I get that it’s still early days and the festive spirit isn’t fully in swing for some so I’m taking in upon myself to help you feeling festive. If anything I think it will help me too as my festive spirit is definitely lacking and delayed.
I’m a massive Christmas lover, there’s nothing I love more than the lead up to Christmas and all the excitement. However, the older and busier I’ve got it’s become a lot harder to get in that festive spirit. I’m sure I’m not alone in that feeling either.
So this blogmas post isn’t just about how to get festive, it’s more tailored towards how to get festive with a busy and hectic life…you know how to fit in those pockets of festivities even if you’re stuck at work most hours of the week.
It can be so easy to get stressed about this time of year but if we make the time even for the smallest of things it will not only make the difference in your mood but have you feeling a bit more festive.
So here are my top four ways of how to get realistically festive in the run up to the big day..
- Be realistic about what you can fit in and make time for things you would normally in your day to day life during the year. It can be so easy to be made to feel guilty for not seeing someone at this time of the year but if you wouldn’t any other time of the year…why do it now?!
- Christmas films are renowned for being the perfect way to get in the festive spirit and I’d be doing you a disservice if I didn’t mention them. Whether it’s sticking on your all time favourite or flicking through the crappy selection that Netflix has to offer or heading to the cinema to see the latest Christmas offering, it’s guaranteed way of getting you feeling Christmassy. Be sure to check back later on in blogmas to see my top Christmas films of all time.
- Get yourself some festive attire. The shopping for it and wearing it is guaranteed to have you feeling festive. It can be really inexpensive too. From seasonally appropriate earrings to headbands to full out jumpers, there’s bound to be something you find and end up wearing in your every day life. Wearing reds, greens and gold is also a really safe but festive bet in the lead up to Christmas.
- Plan a festive day out or fit something in a day you’ve already had planned. I love going to a city every year to see the lights, the window displays of the big department stores and do a bit of shopping. I always try to be realistic with what I can do with time and money so a day trip is always a good shout.
Now you’ll notice that I haven’t included the glaringly obvious steps you could do because I think that’s kind of a given…you know put the decorations up, listen to a playlist etc. Of course please still do that but I was writing this on the assumption you’ve probably already done it!
Have you got any tips for being festive realistically in the lead up to Christmas? Drop them down below in the comments as I’d love to know.
