The idea for today’s blogmas actually came from my amazement that my foundation had stayed on face for a full 12 hour day and still looked perfect a few days ago. It then got me thinking about beauty and skincare products that I couldn’t live without. I’ve discovered so many amazing and awesome products in the last few years thanks to YouTube, Blogs and my own research. Some of which have become staples in my make up and skincare routines.
I always like learning about peoples ‘holy grail’ products because it’s so interesting to see what people couldn’t live without and would spend their money on over and over again.
So I’m stepping away from festive content for day eight of blogmas today and talking all things holy grail.
Smashbox Photo finish primerizer
I really don’t know how I managed to go so many years without using a primer and especially this Smashbox one. I love how it combines a moisturizer and primer in one product which makes it great for traveling but also means that you don’t need to worry about putting too many products on your face. It really does what it says on the tin…I find my make-up lasts so much longer and looks so so much better too. Definitely something worth investing in and it’ll last you a while.
Anastasia Beverly Hills glow kit sugar
I can’t resit a good highlighter and this ABH glow kit palette is the only highlight I need. I treated myself to this in New York and there hasn’t been a day since that I haven’t used it so it’s again well worth the money. I find a little goes a long way too and the pigment is insane. I use shades Gumdrop and Butterscotch the most as I like the more warmer golden tones. These highlighters just don’t compare to any others I’ve used before.
Fenty Beauty pro filt’r soft matte long wear foundation – shade 150
This is the product that started the whole idea of this blog post and with very good reason. Now I wouldn’t say this statement lightly but I’m willing to give this foundation the title of the best I’ve ever tried and without doubt my overall holy grail product. I love the finish of this foundation, it doesn’t feel heavy throughout the day or doesn’t cake. It makes my skin look next to flawless which is a huge order when it comes to my skin. I love the consistence of it too. I just can’t rave about this foundation enough. I’ve always said that it’s worth investing in a good foundation as it’s your core base for a full face of make up.
Glossier You perfume
I’ve never been a massive perfume fan and only seem to get it as presents or as a one off treat to myself but when I saw Glossier were releasing a perfume I knew I had to give it a sniff. This is the perfume without doubt that I get the most compliments on and absolutely love wearing it every time. Apparently it can smell slightly different on everyone that wears it hence the name You which is something so cool and different about it. It’s the perfect addition to the Glossier brand and any perfume collection.
Nars Climax Mascara
This is probably the most indulgent make-up item I’ve ever purchased but for me it’s so worth it even if I did have to close my eyes when buying it in Sephora. I’ve always loved Nars products and think that they’re worth the indulgence every once in a while. If you want that real but fake eyelash look then this is the mascara for you, trust me. Every time I use it, I’m blown away by the results of a mascara. The packaging is so eye catching too, I love it. The applicator brush is also really helpful when applying the right amount of product to your lashes without making them feel or look to bulky.
Glossier Lash Slick Mascara
Yes another mascara but trust me it’s worth it. I swear it would be easier if Glossier just took all my money at the start of the year to cover all their new releases. I’m hanging on their every social media word when it comes to their new products. I was so excited when they announced the addition of a mascara which for me is what they were missing. This is the perfect mascara for your no make-up make-up look, it adds the perfect amount of product to your eyelashes to make them appear longer without it looking like you’ve got much on your lashes. I think it’s a magical mascara in all honestly and can we just talk about the packaging goals too?! It’s probably been in far too many bloggers flatlays to even bother about counting haha.
Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish cleanser
Don’t hate me but 2018 was the first year I discovered cleansers and actually started being kind to my skin as I used to use make-up wipes that looking back on really ruined my skin. I decided to venture into the world of cleansers by going for a cult favourite and I can see why. Other than the Glossier Milky Jelly cleanser the Liz Earle cleanser is the only one I use. It’s perfect for sensitive skin which is music to my ears, it has a slight fragrance to it but not overpowering. It does the job too and very well, my skin feels like brand new every time I use it to take my make-up off.
Nivea Daily Essentials 24 hr moisture boost + refresh regenerating night cream
I’ll admit it, when it comes to moisturizing I’m at my laziest which is why I love the Smashbox primer so much…two products in one! However, when I do remember to use a moisturizer then the Nivea Daily Essentials one is my go to every time. It’s a night cream which means its got a much richer and thicker consistency, this is perfect for dry and tired skin like mine. I swear my skin literally drinks it all up every time I use it, it’s the only moisturizer that fully works for me. It leaves my skin feeling soft and in much better condition.
What are your holy grail products when it comes to beauty and skincare? I’ve loved going through the products that I use every day and will do for the foreseeable future. It’s been a nice break from writing about all things festive but I’m itching to get back writing already…you can only do it for a month really so got to make the most of it?!
Thanks again for passing by adoseofapril for day eight of blogmas. Make sure you come back tomorrow for a new post bursting to the brim of exciting content.
